Andy Warhol
What a guy
Andy
Warhol was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1928. He Studied
at the Carnagie Technical Institute in Pittsburgh, and following
his graduation, he moved to New York in 1949. There he quickly
established himself as a commercial artist and by the late
fifties was one of the most successful designers in the United
States.
In 1960, Warhol decided to re-orient his career and began to
produce paintings of what we now call pop imagery i.e.,
telephones, coke bottles and soup cans. Using such images, Warhol
went on to become one of the most influential artists of his day.
His subjects have become synonymous with North American consumer
culture - Marilyn Monroe, Liz Taylor, Chairman Mao and the
Campbell's Soup Can.
Andy Warhol Died in 1987.
